Can I bypass the Hopper Lid Switch?
The answer is YES if you do this just temporarily to troubleshoot a stove problem.
But never operate a pellet-stove without a correct working hopper safety switch, too many unfortunate accidents happen!
Auger gear motors are very powerful, your fingers or your clothing may get caught in the moving auger and don't let you get away again.
What is an INLINE Fuse Holder for circuit board protection?
The control board or circuit board is the BRAIN in a pellet stove. That is a costly part in your pellet stove; nevertheless, it doesn't take much to destroy it.
Many time a short in the igniter kills the sensitive electronic circuit. A simple solution is to install an inline fuse to the igniter to protect the motherboard.
One more big benefit: A short in the igniter circuit will typically blow the main board fuse, the stove is left without power and can't get started manually. With the 5A inline fuse installed, the main fuse on the board (usually about 6 to 7A) should remain intact, and the stove can warm up your home, but has to be lit up manually!
Why should I get a special hose for my vacuum pressure switch?
Whenever organic fuel burns, an incomplete combustion will produce carbon monoxide, a highly toxic deadly gas. That is the reason to have a negative air pressure in the burning chamber - it "sucks" fresh air inside (instead of blowing something out).
The vacuum switch controls the negative pressure and stops the oven if the vacuum is getting low. But it doesn't take much to lose the recommended vacuum-pressure, a dirty fan blade, a partially restricted flue or a small leak in the vacuum hose may stop the stove from time to time.
That is one good reason to get a high-temperature silicone hose for your stove!
